How to Live a Life of Greater Influence

This is Galilee, where Jesus called people to greater influence. Watch the talk or read the blog. Philip’s House is a bridge to Israel and greater influence.

Ever wonder how to step into a life of greater influence? It starts with giving God your undivided attention and asking three simple but powerful questions.

Think of your life as a book—one authored by Jesus Himself. He writes bestsellers.

“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” – Hebrews 12:1-2

But here’s the catch: sometimes, we get to a tough chapter in our lives, don’t like how it’s going, and feel like giving up.

Don’t stop reading.

We all have books gathering dust on our shelves, but there’s one story you don’t want to leave unfinished: the story of your life.

Here’s how to turn the page and discover a life of greater influence.

1. Get a Vision--Write down what you conceive and believe and pray over it weekly.

Your biography is written by Jesus in heaven, so read the next chapter.

“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” – Psalm 139:16

There is a book that tells the story of your life in advance. Before you were formed, God had a vision for your life. That vision is your destiny.

Your book is kept in heaven. Heaven reads these books.

And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book,  the Book of Life, was opened. Revelation 20:12

If you are judged by your biography at the end of your life, does it not make sense that angels guide us by this book during our life?

So why not lean into that vision? Too many people leave pages unread, never living out the fullness of their potential.

Let’s not be those people. Pray for clarity, stay curious about what’s next, and trust God to guide you.

2. Discover Your Calling--After you fail, write down what calls you to stand up again.

Your life is short, but you have a second life to live.

The Bible says your life is like a handbreadth (Psalm 39:5), a vapor (James 4:14), a shadow (Ecclesiastes 6:12), a flower (Psalm 103:15), grass (Isaiah 40:6), a dream (Psalm 73:20)

When you fall, listen for God’s whisper. He’s not done with you yet. That quiet voice is your calling.

“Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14

Paul knew something important: failure doesn’t cancel your calling, it reveals it.

The next time you’re down, ask God, “What is the calling You’ve placed on my life?” Let His purpose lift you up and pull you forward.

3. Build Your Legacy--Write down who you can set in motion who will outlast you.

Jesus was self-aware. He knew what time it was in his life.

Jesus summarized his life in three sentences.

"My hour has not yet come." John 2:4, 7:6, 7:30

"The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified." John 12:23

“It is finished.” John 19:30

Jesus did not do everything. He did one thing well. He laid down his life. More precisely, Jesus invested his life into 12 men. 11 turned out okay. He left everything to them. Jesus set world transformation in motion and then left it to us. The results have been staggering.

Live by this life motto: "Think big. Start small. Start now."

What small step is God calling you to take now?

Start now with a blank piece of paper, a pen, and a quiet place with God.

1. Write down what you conceive and believe and pray over it weekly. That’s your VISION.

2. List your failures and write beside each one what calls you to stand up again. That’s your CALL.

3. Write down who you can set in motion who will outlast you. That’s your LEGACY.

You’ve got this, and God is with you every step of the way.
